GAME PLAN

After reviewing the ISTE website, and the standards that are aligned for teachers, and students, I have developed my GAME plan to focus on standard number 2, design and developing digital-age learning experiences, and assessments, and standard number 5 engage in professional growth and leadership. Each of these teacher standards are incredibly important to me, as they are a vital part of preparing our students for the 21st century, and though promoting digital citizenship, and creativity are also important, in my personal experience, I am lacking confidence and knowledge in professional growth related to technology in the classroom, and because of that I am not designing and developing, or implementing digital experiences, and assessments as often as I could.

ISTE standard
2. d. Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.
Goal – Provide more authentic formative assessments, using the integration of emerging technologies, and transform that data to inform my instruction, on a daily basis.
Action- I will begin by creating a go to list of formative assessments that I can use regularly in my classroom as a means of checking understanding, then I will begin building a social bookmarking site that is filled with links to websites, and videos related to each unit of study, so that I can use them effectively to evaluate students understanding of new content, and creating a more student centered environment (Cennamo, Ross, & Ertmer, 2009)
Monitor- I will be keeping a journal, and making notes on my lesson plans of what assessment I used, what technology accompanied it, and how it went overall. I will also make note of what the students understood, and struggled with to help inform my instruction.
Evaluate and Extend- The evaluation will come at the end of units, when students take summative assessments, through evaluating their summative assessments, and conducting group discussions, I will be much better informed as to whether or not the students gained a deeper understanding, and if my integration of technology was effective.

5 C. Evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning.

Goal- My goal is to learn new and effective uses for the smart board that got installed in my classroom this year.
Action- I would like to start a small group, with other teachers that recently got smart boards also, and work with them after school, once a week, and share what we learned how to do, or would like to learn to do. I would also like to share stories, on why lessons were more or less effective due to the board. Watching videos online is also a valuable resource, I would like to implement.
Monitor- Meeting with my small cohort of other teachers will be the monitoring process, sharing stories, trials, and tribulations, and making notes of new things that we learn, will show what I learned, and track my progress.
Evaluate and Extend- The evaluation will come in how effectively I learn how to use my new board, currently I fumble around with it, since I am still learning controls, and we were never given any type of training on how to use it, so my evaluation will be a self-reflection on how much this plan helped me seamlessly and effectively integrate smart technologies into my classroom.

For parents

This blog is devoted to parents that want to take an active role in the classroom learning experience. I will update this blog daily and keep all parents posted on what i will be teaching and what has been taught. This blog is an excellent resource to ask me questions, and for you to ask fellow parents questions. I want everyone to work together on this because this is the first time i have used this and I want it to succeed.
